Search for a seminar place for a compulsory seminar in the seminar module shortly before graduation

For WiWi students who could graduate in the upcoming semester or shortly thereafter, the examination board offers support in finding a seminar place.
The prerequisite is proof that efforts to find a seminar place have so far been unsuccessful and that graduation would be delayed due to a lack of seminar places.

Procedure

Contact the WiWi Examination Office in good time before the seminar places are allocated with an e-mail. Subject line "Seminar place search shortly before graduation".

We then need the following from you:

  • Pdf attachment: online printout: current transcript of records with all achievements
  • Pdf attachment: online printout: overview of enrolled semesters
  • Information on how many seminars you are still missing, if this cannot be seen from the transcript of records.
  • The chronology of your previous applications listed according to the following pattern: month/year - seminar title - result (feedback)
  • List of 10 preferred seminars, by topic + institute + responsible professor (list position according to interest)
  • List of thematically (or by institute) delimited seminars that you are not interested in.
  • Examination schedule for all work not documented on the transcript of records up to graduation
  • structured/listed according to semester, stating the corresponding CP.

Even if we first contact the institutes that offer the seminars you prefer. Please note that you are not entitled to a place in a preferred seminar.

Important: Nevertheless, please also apply in parallel for the seminars that interest you and clearly indicate that you are about to graduate. And that you have also submitted or will submit an application to the examination board for the allocation of a seminar place.

For the degree programs WiIng and TVWL according to the old SPO or Master according to SPO 2015: Please also take into account that one of the seminars can be chosen at an ING faculty. http://www. wiwi.kit.edu/Anrechnung_und_Verbuchung.php

For BSc WiIng and TVWL, only one compulsory seminar must be taken in the seminar module. This can also be taken via an approved application to the engineering faculty.

Seminars of the ZAR (Legal Institute at the Faculty of Computer Science) are considered WiWi seminars and can be taken without approval.
